Thanks for the comments guys!
Yeah, I'm really looking forward to her screaming all the way to 9000rpm!
Looking at going BuddyClub Spec4 cams, Supertech valvetrain & 70mm T/B as the B16 head that I have has had some port work done to it.
With the B16 head, Wiseco pistons & flat valves, I should be in the region of 12.1-12.4:1 CR
Only factor that holds me back power wise is the altitude here in Johannesburg - robs an N/A car of approx 17%:angry5:

Why did you use "race" bearings? Were you looking for a loose clearance spec? or do you run heavier oil?

Please explain what you mean by "loose clearance spec".bks;242365 wrote:Why did you use "race" bearings? Were you looking for a loose clearance spec? or do you run heavier oil?
I run a 10W40 synthetic oil, do you suggest a heavier option? I was using a 15W40 prior (Castrol Magnetec).
Thanks

I used ACL standards when I assembled my engine and I was curious as to why you used ACL race. I've heard they're made for a loose motor. Meaning the clearances arent actually in spec.
If I remember right my friend had to use ACL race because his clearances were .0020 (twenty ten thousandths). Factory hondas are usually in the 15-18 ten thousandths.
It's been awhile since I assembled my motor and even longer since my friend assembled his. I was just curious.

No worries mate! The tuners & builders my side all swear by the ACL race, that's mainly y I picked it. WRT clearances, I refuse to fit bearings myself, I send any job that requires proper measurements to my engineer so that I have the peace of mind.
Unfortunately, finances have put the next stage of the build on hold for the moment, but still working on making it happen sooner

Keep an eye on this space for some updates, stuff is beginning to come in for the VTEC swap...
Picked up my Brian Crower S/S spring & retainer kit yesterday and should be getting a stock B16 intake & throttle tomorrow. I have a set of Skunk2 Tuner1's that will go in until the cash for the Spec 4's is available. Busy arranging the Walbro 255 fuel pump & Precision 440cc injectors as well as all the tuning hardware needed for my P28 ECU.
Looking forward to getting the VTEC head done & bolted on....I'm like a kid waiting for Santa to arrive - LOL
