Unfortunitly, I agree. It sounds like your getting into a big project without researching anything about it. All the info I've posted in this thread took me under 2 minutes of searching.

what are u talking about? Isnt that how you learn things by trial and error? How do u know i havnt been researching. Thats why i posted this thread for people to help with good links and such and they did. Through my search i found out that the turbo is not 11.5psi stock its 7-8 and that i cant change it by cutting the actuator and doing a little fabing of it to either shorten or lengthen to increase or decrease boost. I found that by researching thanks for your help that u always sounded so cheerful to give. And thanks to the others that lended a helping hand that were cool, but as of now I have alot to get together still and money to make to buy things.

yeah man, best of luck bro, i jumped into the turbo thing with both feet thinking it would take about $1,000 and a weekend. here i am about 4 months and $3,000 later and still have a list of stuff i need before i even try to install any of it. another thing to think about is maybe switching to OBD1 just for ease of tuning.
also, the 14b is a great turbo for a relatively stock d16, full boost before 3,000rpm, and no problem hitting 200whp @ around 10 psi. another thing to remember is that the 14b is a pretty small turbo, so it running 10psi would be the same as a t3/t4 running about 6psi, just a faster spool. also make sure you get a manifold with a t25/dsm flange....NOT a t3 flange, also dont worry about the water line hookups on the turbo, just cap them off and run oil lines only, they are all you really need.

EDIT: dont buy any cheap stuff off ebay, youll just have to buy it again when it breaks, you might wanna start pricing a strong clutch too.

I disagree, your better off running the water and oil lines on a turbo thats water and oil cooled.

Dude, im not saying this is what you should do, this is what I would do.

Keep the turbo and manifold, and buy the other parts needed that the other guys posted. Keep your car how it is. Buy a spare block, and work on it when you have money avaliable. Keep your engine NA all the while you have this build going on. This way, you learn about the internals and how to change and replace stuff so that you get that knowledge. Also, if you happen to blow your built block, you'll still have a reliable NA engine you can put back in if needed. Once your block is built, you can opt to work on the head. A port and polist and better valve springs and retainers should be a good investement. Don't quote me on this, but i've heard that the D16y8 cam is good for boost, so don't worry about a new cam shaft. ADJ Cam gears are good too for timing issues and tuning. Once you all have everything, mock up and instal. You should be good to go to run all the boost you want.

Basically just look at mike93hatch's mods and use that as a guideline.

Remeber, thats just what I would do.

I never even thought of that idea lol i was just gunna do a dd turbo. But now i think that sounds like a better more practical plan becasue for one im not in a rush like i have said before, and building one in my garage will let me get to things and work on them easier. I like that idea....
