H22A's use FRM sleves and they burn up piston rings after a while and much faster with boost. If you go the H route, traction WILL be an issue. To remedy that, an LSD transmission as well as a traction bar (dont know if one is made for the del sol, but im shure they are) must be purchased.
the most logical swap would be a B-series of your choice.
Thanks Again. They do make traction bars and actually suspensions specially for H swaps. I need to investigate the cost of a solid lsd tranny now. I'll def pass it a few at the track but i'm more exited about the general joy of cruising it. Plus as the above posted website stated, you still get honda gas mileage!
Again this will not become a reality for a while until then.... stock block

mine was just fine.. only thing that ever got annoying was the lightweight flywheel when going through a drive-thru... actually loved the swap just because i could poke around town in 4th gear and then when the speed limits increased I just had to give it a bit more gas and not worry about switchin gears.. that motor had sooo much freakin torque..

this is a statement is the truth..
If I was going to do the H swap again I would probably sell it and go for a K20a2 instead, even tho you will spend a bit more..
there was a boosted H22 at one of the first Sol meets I went to in Stl a few years ago I'll try and dig up a few pics of it.
I for one am happy with the boosted b16 in the Sol, the only mod I've made to it in the 2 years it's been that way were a B/C and map sensor.
04 Subaru WRX Sport Wagon
95 GMC Suburban (Honda hauler)
94 Del Sol vtec (some boost is better than no boost)
91 Chevy S-10 V-8 (toy, soon to be gone though)
87 Honda 250R (as close to a Type R as I will get)

A friend in Florida told me he would sell me a b18a1 + t34. I really wanted to say I had the big block of honda but, if the H22a (altho the torque would be sweet) gives less traction and is wont be faster....
What about the high speed aspect? I understand it being slower at the track but does that extra .6 give you any more on the top end?
I knew someone with an h22 del sol. went low 14's with bolt ons. That was with shifting problems though. I'd figure that a turbo B-series would make more power and be cheaper if you did it on the cheap, but probably less reliable than a N/A h22. I'd think that the H would hook better because of the extra weight on the front wheels, but understeer quite a bit more than you're used to.
The reason that nobody hooks up when they have power goes as follows:
typical honda build---> 88 crx hf (silly gutted and primer)
b16a1 with turbo
b16a1 trans open diff
467,001 mile sea saw suspension
