thats just it though there is no aftermarket support for a hummer its stock its as good as it gets. im not making jeeps out to be 4x4 gods im just useing them as an example. im aware that being balanced on two wheels doesnt mean its going to flip ask any offroader what they would rather have on a trail long and wide or short and narrow im willing to bet more than half would say short and narrow, the longer your wheel base the harder it is for you offroad you get high centered get one wheel in the air higher than the your trucks length and its going over if the weight shifts, like that jackass on the rti ramp in the video. a hummer is by no means at home onroad its geared to be an offroader sure you can drive it on road but its not comfy or driver friendly. i dont think a hummer would make it over ricks car it would probably just shove it around as for the yj as long as it had nice suspension and tires it would roll right over, i know my buddy ran over on old burnt out car at place we used to go wheelin. im in agreement that stock hummer would out perform a stock stock yj or any jeep for that matter but take comparable jeep with some mild modding the hummer would be owned...budget_crx;3528 wrote:now back on topic...
you can compare it to a stock vehicle because it is one. You can go to a dealership and buy one just like you would if it was a Civic, but the difference is it was made to be an offroad vehicle stock, yet is still just as at home on the road. A jeep like you said can do a bit of offroading from the factory and go to the supermarket the sameday because it is a recreational vehicle, but its not the 4X4 god everyone makes it out to be,. I have been in a few more Jeeps in off roading excursions than Hummers, but i can still tell you that stock one straight from the showroom floor cannot do as much
Yes I understand they can do the same things as a Hummer modified, even better. but thats not the point Modify the hummer and it will still be better. They may not seem safe to you, but they are. Its a hell of a lot easier to flip a skinny short jeep than it is a huge ass HUMMER, and about the wheels being up; that doesnt mean its going to flip, a vehicle with all four wheels on the ground can flip just as easy.
I think there is only one way to settle this, you get a Yj, I'll get a hummer and we'll see who can drive over rick's car easier.

thats not true, Adventure Accesories, they are a St. Louis based company that does nothing but make aftermarket parts for the entire HUMMER lineup.stolle;3564 wrote:thats just it though there is no aftermarket support for a hummer its stock its as good as it gets. im not making jeeps out to be 4x4 gods im just useing them as an example. im aware that being balanced on two wheels doesnt mean its going to flip ask any offroader what they would rather have on a trail long and wide or short and narrow im willing to bet more than half would say short and narrow, the longer your wheel base the harder it is for you offroad you get high centered get one wheel in the air higher than the your trucks length and its going over if the weight shifts, like that jackass on the rti ramp in the video. a hummer is by no means at home onroad its geared to be an offroader sure you can drive it on road but its not comfy or driver friendly. i dont think a hummer would make it over ricks car it would probably just shove it around as for the yj as long as it had nice suspension and tires it would roll right over, i know my buddy ran over on old burnt out car at place we used to go wheelin. im in agreement that stock hummer would out perform a stock stock yj or any jeep for that matter but take comparable jeep with some mild modding the hummer would be owned...
the comment about hummers not being for onroad is complete BS, those things are freaking nice, very comfortable, loud though (like any diesel) but the thing drove beautifully on the road. The turning radius is amazing for such a large vehicle and the inboard mounted brakes stop it with ease. the only on road downfall is the gas mileage
Oh, and i dont think ricks car would be a problem
