can i setup ut:goty windows version on a linux box? im thinking that i might be able to get a little bit better pings if i do. right now its running through the dsl line. 3/4 of a meg sucks for uploads

Sure can. There is a dedicated linux server avail I believe. I would try to throttle the dl rate first. Your prob getting 600 down if its rated at 756k. That will support about 6 peeps or so. You can also turn down the tickrate but that will effect guns like the mini and plasma.
