If pressure form the busing is placed on the shaft if the bolt then your not going to get an accurate reading because the pressure of the bushing is effecting the reading. What I usually do is TQ it to spec in the air, drop the car and roll it around a bit and then check for lose bolts/nuts.ChrisD_EJ8;118148 wrote:I want to make sure I understand this correctly. You think Pre-loading suspension would give false readings?
I'm not saying you're wrong, but I would think that if your suspension is hanging off of the ground and you were to tighten it, it would cause the bolts to bind more in the bushings when your suspension does compress and settle. I would think there would be less binding if you would tighten your suspension in a position that your car would be sitting.

Where is the pressure from the bushing being placed if its not on the bolt?btlfedgolf;118152 wrote:If pressure form the busing is placed on the shaft if the bolt then your not going to get an accurate reading because the pressure of the bushing is effecting the reading. when the car is up in the air and the bolt is running through the busing into the nut on the other side there is very little pressure from the bushing to cause it to bind. Once the car is back on the ground you have the weight of the car adding pressure to the bushing.ChrisD_EJ8;118153 wrote:Where is the pressure from the bushing being placed if its not on the bolt?

Here's an article I found. this is applying to rear drive cars but i'm sure it is the same as doing a front drive car. this might help you understand what i mean.btlfedgolf;118155 wrote:when the car is up in the air and the bolt is running through the busing into the nut on the other side there is very little pressure from the bushing to cause it to bind. The only reason I ask this is because i'm going to be installing a full coilover set soon and I want to know the best way to go about doing this so that I dont have squeaking bushings anymore.

you should do it on the ground but really it doesnt matter. and who is worried about torque spec on a LCA bolt? its not a headbolt. just tighten the sumbitch down. ive never had problems in the past 9 years.

I'm not worried about torque spec at all. like you said, it's just an LCA bolt. I'm having the problem of my suspension making loud squeaking noises because of the LCA bushings Binding up and it annoys the piss out of me and makes my car sound like shit when there is any rear suspension movement at all.
I was just asking a ? so that I could prevent this when installing a new set of full coilovers.
