well first of all it depends on which honda engine....every engines knock limit is different. but with some engines, YES you can get 500hp out of them on pump gas easily. heck, you could get alot more actually.SPoole;143879 wrote:I am just curious if anyone here has been able to get near 500 on pump gas?

Little late seeing this one but yea as stated above with the right setup you could put 500 to the ground on pump (I asume you mean 93). It been done before, and no, locally on this forum you will not find any 500whp 93 pump hondas to my knowledge.
Now with that said, if you consider that in our area e85 is on the pump (least around me it is within 5 minutes any direction) and are talking e85 instead of 93... definately possible.
The flip side to this, WHY would you want to run that much power on such shitty gas... seems like an added risk to me. If you already have enough into your motor and setup to make 500, you can afford to put in some good gas in it, add a meth kit, or run on e85 (which is actually cheaper than 93).
Me personally I dont trust pump gasolines cosistancy and quality from station to station, week to week. Also consider with 93 being replaced with 91 around where I am it is not more convient that per say e85 or anything else you have to drive a little distance to get.
On a side note, is the setup on that car still the same as when you bought it?

Anything is possible with enough money.
The Honda drag cars make that much power. They are running bored and built blocks with ultra light and ultra fortified valvetrains and stupid large custom mounted turbos.
I have read of magazine featured Hondas in the upper 300s and maybe even 400s.
Why would you even want 500hp? I'd say that if you want to reach that goal you had better be willing to spend $100 per horse.

hell... the fastest street car class honda is in the 8's at almost 170mph now, with over 900whp on gas. the technology and the parts doing it, are not as exotic as your reply paints the mental picture of.
there are stock block cars making 500+whp (albiet i dont think thats the most reliable setup but they are doing it never the less), muchless the built motor guys.
the mags you seen with high 300 and even 400whp cars, might as well be talking about all motor cars... since all motor setups have reached those numbers, on gas not alcohol mind you.
100 per horse x 500hp... so you think it would take 50 grand... thats crazy talk, you are WAY off base.

Yes I also think $100 per horse is a bit high. And yes this car does still have mostly the same setup as when I bought it accept that the head is rebuilt, the turbo is rebuilt, the manifold is now a Skunk 2, and the TB is a 68mm Skunk. And I am also running eCtune now rather than the Apex'i system it had before.
