You're not going to make an substantial amount of power out of that T3 on a b18. Have you seen the flow chart for that T3? Especially at high revs the turbo is going to fall on it's face. You're going to choke the crap out of that turbo. You'll have great low end torque but that's about it, your high end is going to suffer.

You realize how much cfm a 1.8 DOHC pushes compared to a 1.6 SOHC? I'm not a turbo god by any means but i do understand how they are rated and work efficiently per CFM of your car. Look up how to read compressor flow charts and you'll see where a turbo will lose it's efficiency. Just because it's rated at 25psi does not mean you can push it fully to 25 psi and think you can make power. that's why they have flow charts to read the efficency of that turbo before it starts losing power.
If you want your car to be cheap and fast it wont be reliable... If you want your car to be reliable and cheap it wont be fast... If you want your car to be fast and reliable it wont be cheap...

Maybe not a lot of power would be made, but I never said that. It'll make a decent amount more than 200 whp on the lowest power'd b series motor (ls). And if it were a super 60 t3.....300 hp is very attainable. I pick a turbo based on goals / powerband.....every setup is not made for just peak power. I would rather have a broad powerband than what I have now (5k-7.5k). I don't have this turbo on my car....nor would I buy it unless the car was more for something other than mostly straight line.

I don't know what the difference of cfm from a 1.8 to a 1.6.......what are the numbers?

here is a turbonetics t3 super 60 on a gsr motor.....6psi and 10psi. The torque curve stay relatively flat for a turbo this small.

300 is easily attainable on a super 60 which is completely different then a straight t3, which is what he was looking at. I'll get you the CFM's later on the 1.6 - 1.8

The only difference from a super 60 and the biggest "straight" t3 turbo (60 trim), is the inducer size of the compressor wheel, the bigger part of the wheel is the same.

1.900 for the super 60 and 1.830 for the 60.......not a huge difference, about the width of a quarter.

i knew that looked too small for those numbers. that kid doesnt know much about cars tho. he asked where the oil pan went on the b16 block my brother sold him. il prolly get a t3/60-1 or a t3/t4 hybrid but im not sure yet

that width of a quarter makes a huge difference but your comparing a t3 60 to a t3 super 60. the t3 shown is a 50 trim major difference between 50 to super 60.

here's the cfms for 1.6-2.0 and the mathematical equation shown to figure it out

CFM = (CID/1728) * (RPM/2)

Liter --CID ----- RPM ---- CFM
1.6 -- 97 (.056) --- 8k --- 224
1.8 -- 119 (.069) --- 8k --- 276
2.0 -- 122 (.071) --- 8k --- 284

You see the huge difference between 1.6 to 1.8? there's a 52 cfm difference.

what motor do you have? I think ls?

t3/t4 50 trim is what I would do.

You didn't specify which t3 :icon_biggrin: And its only a 2lb / minute difference than the 60 trim

And redo your math.....its only about 35 cfm different using that equation. And where does ve come in?.....I didn't see it. Break it down even further to LS vs. Z6 and it is only 19cfm more (factory redlines).

A debate with just a little bit of "tech/info" is rare around here. Don't take anything I say personally (not saying you are, just letting you know)....I am stubborn :icon_biggrin:.

And evan's dynapak is known to read lower than a dynojet....I don't think it inflates numbers that much. It should be used only as a reference/tuning tool anyway.
